Transfer deadline day is nearly upon us.

Expect to see broadcast reporters outside training grounds, a twilight appearance from Jim White on Sky Sports News and fans up and down the country tuning into TV and radio shows to see if their side are making a late addition to the ranks.

It is likely to be as busy as ever, with plenty of movers in the Premier League but the Championship could also be the subject of deadline-day activity as managers look to either bring in long-term targets or push the panic button in a desperate attempt to land another option.

Huddersfield Town have been active this summer, purchasing Conor Coady from Liverpool in a bargain £375,000 deal, securing Jacob Butterfield in a swap deal with Middlesbrough for Adam Clayton, nabbing Radoslaw Majewski on loan from Nottingham Forest as well as snapping up free agents Joe Murphy and Lee Peltier.

While it is not clear whether or not the Terriers will go into the market again before Monday's 11pm deadline, there are plenty of other clubs who look set to be active as they plug the gaps in their respective squads.

Here, Tom Marshall-Bailey takes a look at 10 Championship sides who are in a race to beat the deadline.

Blackpool

Who have they brought in so far?

Jose Miguel Cubero (Herediano, Undisclosed), Jeffrey Rentmeister (Westerlo, Undisclosed), Nile Ranger (Unattached), Edu Oriol (AEL Limassol), Francois Zoko (Stevenage), Sergei Zenjov (FC Karpaty Lviv), Tony McMahon (Sheffield United), Peter Clarke (Huddersfield Town), Tomasz Cywka, Jacob Mellis (Both Barnsley), Joan Oriol (Osasuna), Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa), Ishmael Miller (Nottingham Forest), Elliot Parish (Bristol City), Andrea Orlandi (Brighton & Hove Albion), Joel Dielna (Unattached), Francois Zoko (Stevenage), Donervon Daniels (West Bromwich Albion, Loan), Joe Lewis (Cardiff City, Loan), John Lundstram (Everton, Loan).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

Jose Riga's admission that he still needs four players to make the Seasiders competitive at Championship level will surely delight chairman Karl Oyston who, after a bizarre stand-off with his new manager, has bankrolled a host of transfers - most of which were free agents.

But Riga is correct, five defeats to start the season in all competitions reflects the club's tumultuous summer and illustrates the dearth of second-tier quality at the manager's disposal at present.

Which one player should they target?

Mikael Mandron (Sunderland). The Black Cats continue to pursue Liverpool's Fabio Borini and have also been linked with Lillie forward Salomon Kalou, suggesting Mandron may not experience first-team opportunities any time soon.

Riga is after a striker who possesses pace and in Mandron he would get just that. He impressed during pre-season and a loan spell at this level would benefit him in his future development.

Bolton Wanderers

Who have they brought in so far?

Dorian Dervite (Charlton Athletic), Liam Feeney, Liam Trotter (Both Millwall), Andy Robinson (Southampton), Dean Moxey (Crystal Palace), Neil Danns (Leicester City), Ross Fitzsimons (Crystal Palace), Andy Hughes (Charlton Athletic), Alex Baptiste (Blackburn Rovers, Loan), Joe Mason (Cardiff City, Loan).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

Up front. The Trotters' problems are evident as Jermaine Beckford is not capable of towing the line on his own in attack. Joe Mason has arrived for another loan spell from Cardiff City but Dougie Freedman needs a striker who can get the best out of his existing options.

Which one player should they target?

Luke James (Hartlepool). May not be the most glamorous name as a new striker addition but his presence up front, allied with a good turn of pace could work as the perfect foil for Beckford and would not cost as much as current Championship-level strikers having submitted a transfer request to League Two Pools.

Cardiff City

Who have they brought in so far?

Tom Adeyemi (Birmingham City, £1m), Adam Le Fondre (Reading, £1m), Anthony Pilkington (Norwich City, £1m), Sean Morrison (Reading, Undisclosed), Guido Burgstaller (Rapid Vienna, Undisclosed), Kagisho Dikgacoi (Crystal Palace), Javi Guerra (Real Valladolid), Federico Macheda (Manchester United).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

The belief from within the Bluebirds is that one more central defensive option is required to complete their squad for the season and if they do add one, it is hard to argue against them having a near-perfect squad for this level.

Which one player should they target?

Michael Keane (Manchester United). The towering central defender looked set for an Old Trafford stay after Louis van Gaal's praise for the 21-year-old during pre-season but after his and United's woeful showing in a 4-0 defeat at MK Dons, could the Dutchman be forced to reconsider his stance?

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer must capitalise on his United links to snap him up immediately if the opportunity presents itself.

Fulham

Who have they brought in so far?

Ross McCormack (Leeds United, £7m rising to £11m), Thomas Eisfeld (Arsenal, Undisclosed), Tiago Casasola (Boca Juniors, Undisclosed),Kay Voser (FC Basle, Undisclosed), Adam Taggart (Newcastle Jets, Undisclosed), Nikolay Bodurov (Litex Lovech, Undisclosed), Dino Fazlic (Unattached), Shaun Hutchinson (Motherwell), Tim Hoogland (Schalke), Adil Chihi (Cologne), Dino Fazlic (Bolton Wanderers), Konstantinos Stafylidis (Bayer Leverkusen, Loan).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

In a word, everywhere. It is quite astonishing, and surely alarming from a Fulham fan's perspective, that the make-up of this squad is virtually unrecognisable to the one which failed to retain their Premier League status last term.

Experience is in short supply, there appears to be a lack of strategy about team selection and the direction the club are heading and some of their blue-chip forwards are being consigned to the obscurity of the reserves.

Which one player should they target?

Adlene Guedioura (Crystal Palace). What the Cottagers need more than anything is a capable performer at this level who can come in and make an instant impression.

The midfield, in particular, looks bereft of proven quality and experience and Guedioura offers both in abundance, irrespective of his current status in the Crystal Palace ranks. He is only likely to feature in the cup competitions for the Eagles and may be tempted by a move elsewhere.

Leeds United

Who have they brought in so far?

Liam Cooper (Chesterfield, £700,000), Billy Sharp (Southampton, £600,000), Casper Sloth (Aarhus, £600,000), Marco Silvestri (Chievo, Unidsclosed), Tommaso Bianchi (Sassuolo, Undisclosed), Gaetano Berardi (Sampdoria, Undisclosed), Nicky Ajose (Peterborough, Undisclosed), Mirco Antenucci (Ternana, Undisclosed), Stuart Taylor (Reading), Souleymane Doukara (Catania, Loan).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

There is an argument to be had that Leeds lack the ingenuity between midfield and attack which can supply the bullets for Billy Sharp up front. If the Whites are able to identify and carry out a deal for a playmaker type in the final few days of the window, they should seize the opportunity.

Which one player should they target?

Adryan (Cagliari, on loan from Flamengo). And the talented Brazilian Adryan fits the bill perfectly for Leeds, with a deal said to be close. He can bring the best out of some of their attacking talents and lift the gloom from around Elland Road.

Ipswich Town

Who have they brought in so far?

Bartosz Bialkowski (Notts County, Undisclosed), Alex Henshall (Manchester City), Cameron Stewart (Hull City), Jonathan Parr (Crystal Palace), Darren McQueen (Tottenham Hotspur), Kévin Bru (Levski Sofia), Balint Bajner (Borussia Dortmund), Conor Sammon (Derby County, Loan).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

Midfield is one area which still looks slightly on the thin side and Mick McCarthy may look to shrewd free agent moves or loans to supplement an otherwise adequate existing core in the squad.

Which one player should they target?

Jack Collison (West Ham United). With any potential move for Jonathan Williams failing to come to fruition, a deal for Collison could and should be explored in the final few days. Offers Premier League quality as well as a good passing range and set piece ability.

Norwich City

Who have they brought in so far?

Cameron Jerome (Stoke, £1.5m), Anthony Pilkington (Cardiff City, £1m), Lewis Grabban (AFC Bournemouth, Undisclosed), Carlos Cuéllar (Sunderland), Kyle Lafferty (Palermo, Undisclosed), Gary O'Neil (Queens Park Rangers).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

Canaries manager Neil Adams would presumably have been rather content with his squad until the news of central defender Ryan Bennett undergoing ankle surgery, which has forced him into the market for a replacement.

Which one player should they target?

Ignasi Miquel (Arsenal). While it is not certain that the Gunners would let him go on a permanent basis, a loan deal appears in the offing given the Premier League outfit's much-publicised hunt for defensive reinforcements.

The Spaniard was part of the Leicester City side which achieved promotion from the Championship last season and Adams will hope lightning strikes twice.

Rotherham United

Who have they brought in so far?

Jordan Bowery (Aston Villa, £250,000), Richard Smallwood (Middlesbrough, £175,000), Kirk Broadfoot (Blackpool), Matt Derbyshire (Nottingham Forest), Scott Loach (Ipswich Town), Conor Newton (Newcastle United), Mat Sadler (Crawley Town), Ryan Hall (MK Dons), Richard Wood (Charlton Athletic), Febian Brandy (Sheffield United), Frazer Richardson (Middlesbrough), Paul Green (Leeds United), John Swift (Chelsea, Loan), Paul Taylor (Ipswich Town, Loan), Anthony Wordsworth (Ipswich Town, Loan).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

Steve Evans has padded out his squad with experience and plenty of diligent workers but he has already stated he is hopeful of bringing in one more before the window slams shut.

Which one player should they target?

Darren Pratley (Bolton Wanderers). The midfielder's Trotters future remains unclear and, despite scoring in their 3-2 Capital One Cup win at Crewe Alexandra this week, remains on the fringes of the first team.

Would be available at a knock-down price and fits the profile of player the Millers have signed so far this summer.

Wigan Athletic

Who have they brought in so far?

James Tavernier (Newcastle United, Undisclosed), Oriol Riera (Osasuna, Undisclosed), Andrew Taylor (Cardiff City), Aaron Taylor-Sinclair (Partick Thistle), Don Cowie (Cardiff City), Emyr Huws (Manchester City, Loan).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

Uwe Rosler looks to have finally made a breakthrough in signing Jordi Gomez's replacement Adam Forshaw from Brentford after protracted negotiations with the west London side, but now he must compensate the departure of James McArthur, who is joining Leicester City for £7m.

Which one player should they target?

Andrew Surman (Norwich City). One of few players at Carrow Road who is largely considered dispensable and is believed to be a target for Bournemouth, but the Latics can blow the Cherries out the water with the windfall from McArthur's sale and snap up a proven, like-for-like replacement.

Wolves

Who have they brought in so far?

George Saville (Chelsea, Undisclosed), Tommy Rowe (Peterborough United), Rajiv Van La Parra (Heerenveen).

Where do they still need to strengthen?

Attacking signings are a must before the deadline and manager Kenny Jackett is well aware of the paucity of forward options available to him beyond the starting XI at present.

Which one player should they target?

Chris Wood (Leicester City). With viable striking targets at a premium, Jackett may have to revisit previous interest in Leicester forward Wood, who may find himself nudged down the pecking order up front with any more striker additions at the King Power Stadium.
