Huddersfield Town's two summer signings will be made official today as the transfer window's doors officially open for business.

Town have been linked with a host of names in the transfer window, with the returning Lee Peltier becoming the club's second addition by following former Coventry City goalkeeper Joe Murphy to the John Smith's Stadium as the club looks to bolster its ranks ahead of the 2014/2015 campaign.

Manager Mark Robins insists he is content with the club's summer work to date but here are some defenders and midfielders the club may wish to cast their eye upon to fill the gaps left by departures at the end of last season.

Look at our two galleries (above and below) to see who might be of interest to Town this summer.

Andrew Robertson (Dundee United) - Still available: Yes

The left-back is sought-after but the Tannadice outfit would be susceptible to any sizable bids.

Ben Purrington (Plymouth Argyle) - Still available: No

The highly-rated full-back signed a new deal at the end of last month with the League Two outfit.

Bobby Hassell (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Remains a Bosman transfer for somebody after being released from Barnsley.

Carlos Cuellar (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Has been in discussions with Crystal Palace, but no deal has been reached.

Craig Cathcart (Free Agent) - Still available: No

One of Town's top defensive targets this summer, but fellow Championship side Watford stole in and secured his signature.

Dan Burn (Fulham) - Still available: Yes

The towering central defender could be set for a second successive loan spell in the Championship.

Danny Gabbidon (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Yet to be snapped up, although Cardiff City are reportedly interested in bringing the defender back to the club.

Gabriel Zakuani (Peterborough) - Still available: No

Re-joined Posh after spending half a season in Greece with Kalloni.

Gary Caldwell (Wigan Athletic) - Still available: Yes

The Latics club captain played a peripheral role last season and may fancy a move.

Cyrus Christie (Coventry City) - Still available: No

Christie could well be on the move, but it looks like it won't be to Town considering the hefty compensation they would have to pay.

Guillermo Varela (Manchester United) - Still available: Yes

The Uruguayan right-back may have to wait until Louis van Gaal's arrival before seeing whether he has a future at Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire (Sheffield United) - Still available: No

Always likely to be considered a long shot in terms of attainable transfer targets and it has proved so, with £3m figures being bandied about.

Jonathan Parr (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

The left-back is still on the lookout for a new club after leaving Crystal Palace.

Kirk Broadfoot (Rotherham United) - Still available: No

The former Blackpool defender has linked up with the newly-promoted Millers.

Kyle Bartley (Swansea City) - Still available: Yes

First-team opportunities may be limited for the central defender at the Liberty Stadium and another loan spell cannot be ruled out.

Luke Ayling (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Any deal appears unlikely, with Brentford the supposed frontrunners, but he could fill Town's right-back void.

Mark Hudson (Cardiff City) - Still available: Yes

Struggled to retain his place in the starting XI after a number of injuries and may seek pastures new.

Reda Johnson (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

The left-hand side of defence is not as pressing a concern as other areas of the backline but Robins may see the appeal of a cheap deal.

Sean St Ledger (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Has been linked heavily with a return to Preston North End but could prove a shrewd bit of business.

Lloyd Jones (Liverpool) - Still available: Yes

Talented young prospect who could take the next step in his career with a loan move.

Matthew Etherington (Stoke City) - Still available: Yes

It remains to be seen whether or not the former Potters flyer is aiming for a higher calibre club than Town, but he is on the market.

Nick Powell (Manchester United) - Still available: Yes

Like Varela, his future will be decided once van Gaal arrives. Any potential loan spell would spark mass interest after his time at Wigan Athletic.

Paddy McCourt (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Would not appear to be on Town's radar but could be a useful squad player on a free.

Radoslaw Majewski (Nottingham Forest) - Still available: Yes

It would take a significant offer on Town's part, but the Pole is not guaranteed of a starting berth under new boss Stuart Pearce.

Tomasz Cywka (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Reports suggested he had rejected Barnsley's contract offer, but the club are adamant it was the player who dwelt too long over a deal.

Tommy Rowe (Wolverhampton Wanderers) - Still available: No

Moved from Peterborough to Kenny Jackett's side on a free earlier this month.

Chris Burke (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Former Town manager Lee Clark has accepted the Scot will move on from Birmingham City this summer.

Chris Eagles (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Regressed during his time at Bolton but there are few players like him on the market, particularly on a free, in wide areas.

Danny Guthrie (Reading) - Still available: Yes

Any move would be ambitious from Town but the former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder provides numerous options in the middle.

Darren Pratley (Bolton Wanderers) - Still available: Yes

Has suffered from a number of injuries and could be let go by Dougie Freedman this summer but is still a consistent performer at this level.

David Cotterill (Free Agent) - Still available: No

The former Doncaster Rovers winger completed a move to Birmingham City last week to become Lee Clark's ninth signing this summer.

Emyr Huws (Manchester City) - Still available: Yes

Seems certain to go out on loan once more given City's midfield riches, but it depends whether or not he has impressed enough to warrant a move to a top-flight side.

Franck Moussa (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Far more likely than a deal for his team-mate Christie, but other midfielders appear to be higher in Robins' thoughts.

Gary Mackay-Steven (Dundee United) - Still available: Yes

Unlikely, given the price tag he would command, but Town would benefit from his trickery and inventiveness from out wide.

George Thorne (West Bromwich Albion) - Still available: No

Several factors mean a deal is nigh-on impossible. Alan Irvine's appointment at the club, plus Derby County's strong interest and the figures quoted suggest Town will look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements.

Guy Moussi (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Let go by Forest prior to Pearce's appointment but may not be of the requisite quality for Town's needs.

Jacob Mellis (Free Agent) - Still available: Yes

Stalling on a new deal with Barnsley and looks to be off. His reputation as something of a troublemaker could count against him.

Lloyd Dyer (Watford) - Still available: No

The former Leicester City winger completed a move from the Foxes to Watford earlier this month.

Massimo Luongo (Swindon Town) - Still available: Yes

His place in Australia's World Cup squad may serve to raise his price tag but the Robins may not be able to hold onto him unless they get off to a good start in 2014/2015.

Dean Whitehead (Middlesbrough) - Still available: Yes

The Boro midfielder is entering the final 12 months of his contract on Teesside and may be tempted by pastures new.
