Derby County manager Darren Wassall paid tribute to the way Huddersfield Town made life tough for his side at the iPro Stadium.

Town were defeated 2-0 by the promotion-chasers but Wassall, in charge since the departure of Paul Clement, revealed that he had been watching Town's recent performances and had put a plan in place to try and counteract David Wagner's preferred passing style.

While some Town fans aired relegation fears after the match , many at Derby felt it was an impressive showing from the Terriers, who were without two key figures in Jonathan Hogg and Joel Lynch.

“I have to give credit to Huddersfield in the way that they approached the game today," declared Wassall in his post-match comments.

“They made it very difficult for us, especially in the first 15 minutes and also the first 15 minutes after half time.

“I think we showed great resilience in handling Huddersfield threat and dug in very well to get the two goals which we’re all extremely pleased about.

“We knew that Huddersfield would come and try to dictate the game in terms of possession, so we knew we had to be patient and because we were, we were rewarded with two quality goals with the possibility of a few more.”
