Doug Thomson's marks:

ALEX SMITHIES
Made some decent saves to
keep the score down, but still
won’t be happy at being
beaten three times. 6

JACK HUNT
Busy at the beginning, but
having contained Palace’s
Zaha so well, found it tough
against Derby’s Sammon. 5

CALUM WOODS
Worked hard but had a tricky
opponent in Coutts and gave
away the free-kick which led
to Derby’s third goal. 5

ANTHONY GERRARD
Did his best to stem the flow
with some strong headers and
blocks, but Derby simply got
forward too often. 6

PETER CLARKE
Never shirked a challenge,
with his block on Sammon
bringing the concussion which
forced him off. 6

OLIVER NORWOOD
Like many, was lively in the
early stages, but his input
waned as the game wore on
and Derby took control. 5

NEIL DANNS
Started on the right of midfield
before being given a more
defensive role, but not as
effective as against Palace. 5

SCOTT ARFIELD
Another who struggled to
reproduce his form of last
Wednesday, with his touch
letting him down. 5

ADAM CLAYTON
He was a key man at the tip of
the midfield diamond in the
previous two matches, but
below par in this one. 5

JAMES VAUGHAN
Put in a real shift and looked
the most likely to get through
the Derby defence, but
couldn’t conjure a goal. 6

LEE NOVAK
Put in the hard yards but was
unable to find that final touch,
and his afternoon was ended
early by a foot injury. 6

COMENTS:

A terrible performance, heads were down before half time. Derby played ok but we made them look good.

Russell, Calder Valley

A day in which a lot of headless chickens chased about trying to catch shadows.

Dec, Meltham

Beaten by the better team so no shame for Town this week. Derby passed slickly and Town just weren’t good enough. We need to start creating chances and scoring some goals so we can beat the teams below us when we play them later in the season.

Mark the 4th, Kirkburton

We need pace in the team and we need a striker who can finish, not just run.

Peter, Penistone

After such a good performance on Wednesday how can we play so poorly? The concern now is the lack of depth of real quality and experience in our squad that the injuries picked up may really hurt us. Mark Lillis has picked the players up, but his role is with the Academy, just hoping we can land the right manager with good connections.
