Huddersfield Town loanee Elvis Manu has a future with Brighton and Hove Albion, insists Chris Hughton.

Manu, who was disciplined by David Wagner last week, is on loan from the Seagulls until the end of the season after stuggling for game time at the Amex since signing from Feyenoord last summer.

However Hughton, who declared he was aware of the action taken by Wagner after the winger turned up late after a trip to the South Coast, insists the door is not closed on the Dutch youth international.

Elvis Manu is back in the fold for Huddersfield Town

“I think every player still has a future. They always have to bounce back from difficult times or things they have done wrong, try to improve their game,” Hughton told the Argus.

“When we took Elvis he was on the back of a good season at Feyenoord, who are of course a top club in Holland, and sometimes it takes a little bit longer for some to adjust, to a different formation, a different mentality.”

Manu is yet to start a game for Brighton or Town since his move to England, but has made five appearances from the bench during his time in Yorkshire.

And Hughton was quick to point out that Elvis is not the first to struggle initially after swapping clubs - and many went on to enjoy great success in later seasons.

Added the Brighton boss: “There would be numerous examples of players whose first periods at new clubs didn’t go so well and they ended up having good careers there.

“So absolutely no, the door is not closed. He has got to very much use this season as an experience.”
