ON reviewing of the list of possible candidates for the Town job, the one that stands out for me is Chris Hutchings. The ex-Town player is well respected in the footballing community both as a manager and coach.

Hutchings has managed at the highest level, coached Wigan from the lower divisions to the Premier League and shows an ability to select players able to compete in the various divisions.

Many would say he was not given the time to prove his full potential in the Premiership, which he obviously showed with some good signings in his short term as manager of Wigan.

The likes of Ronnie Jepson and Mark Lillis, in my opinion, although popular with the fans would be in the same grain as Andy Ritchie and would be high risk.

Others listed are what I would call the journeymen of football management, who we would expect to apply for the post.

Sam Allardyce may not be a realistic option but Chris Hutchings could be a possibility to take the helm in the centenary year.

James, Golcar:

IN the immediate future, we must go for someone from outside the club as the new manager. Rocket Ronnie Jepson was my hero as a player, but what has he done at Gillingham?

And Mark Lillis has minimal experience of the right kind.

We need the appointment to happen quickly so that the new man can get rid of the bulk of the players we’ve got – not like this time last year when most got kept on.

Why have we paid some of their wages this time? We are, like Luke Beckett said, a below average League 1 team.

We need a top manager to turn this round.

Sue, Bradley:

WHAT are Town playing at?

Who else is going to come for next to nothing and work with next to nothing, based on Saturday’s performance?

Andy Ritchie inherited all this, so other changes are needed as well.

Sorry to see you go Andy, but your job was very hard to start with.

Good luck Gerry Murphy, and maybe you can do what you did last time you were in charge.

Ged Spears, Crosland Moor:

I BELIEVE 120K to get rid of AR is good business.

With season-ticket holders vowing not to renew at a cost of around 750K, I can see Ken’s gamble.

But we must get someone decent.
