TOWN'S Third Division rivals Boston are to reappoint former manager Steve Evans.

The Scot is currently serving the final few days of a Football Association ban from the game for contract irregularities and impeding an inquiry.

The Lincolnshire club have now contacted the FA for final clearance to appoint Evans whose ban will end on March 2.

Evans would then be eligible to take charge of the game against Southend on March 3.

New Boston chairman Jon Sotnick has put Evans on a rolling contract.

He has insisted that his salary will be halved for the first year as punishment for the fine the Pilgrims received.

Evans says he will return to York Street a different man.

Boston parted company with former manager Neil Thompson just two days after Sotnick took the club over earlier this month.

Thompson had replaced Evans in July 2002 and led Boston to 15th place in Division III last season, their first in the League, despite a four-point deduction.
