Christoph Buhler says he and David Wagner will ensure every Huddersfield Town training session matters.

The 38-year-old is hungry for the challenge of assisting the club’s new head coach.

The pair were teammates at TSG Weinheim and have coached together at Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund.

“We have known each other 13 years and coached together for six,” said Buhler, currently on Town’s Spanish training camp alongside Wagner and newly-appointed coach Mike Marsh.

“David and I know each other 100 per cent, and I think we work well together.

“In football terms, we speak the same language and have the same ideas.

“We are honest with each other and with the players.

“I believe we give the critical words which are needed and we find the best solution for each situation.”

Buhler added: “We know we have a game the weekend after next (at Sheffield Wednesday), and we will work hard to be ready.

“We ensure every training session matters, whatever the time.”

Town’s players were put through some drills for gegenpressing in Spain yesterday.

Every outfield player in the travelling party was explained the new ‘full-throttle’ policy, with Wagner impressing the importance of accuracy when in possession.

He then put the focus on winning back possession before assessing the reactions of individuals in some tough sessions involving six players against three.

Wagner outlined his plans in a squad meeting before two sessions of training. There was a pause for a Remembrance Day silence.
