Tareiq Holmes-Dennis believes the familiar faces of Kasey Palmer, Joel Coleman and Jack Payne will help him settle in quickly at his new club Huddersfield Town.

The 20-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Terriers today and will link up with Chelsea loanee Palmer, who he has known since he was 14.

In his first interview as a Town player, the defender said: "We knew each other because we were both at Charlton since we were young and we played in the same team from 14 upwards and we get on well so that's going to help me settle in."

Holmes-Dennis could cost Town around £500,000 - with add-ons to the initial downpayment - but the youngster is highly-rated by head coach David Wagner.

How happy are you to join Huddersfield Town?

"Yeah, I'm over the moon. I'm happy to get the deal sorted and excited to join such a big club with ambitions going forward."

Why were you so interested in joining Town?

"I think the style of play that Huddersfield have is very suited to the way I am as a player and I think that's a big factor."

You've played with Kasey Palmer at Charlton and you've known each other since you were kids. That'll surely help you settle in, won't it?

"Yeah, that will definitely help me settle. We knew each other because we were both at Charlton since we were young and we played in the same team from 14 upwards and we get on well so that's going to help me settle in."

And you spoke to first team coach Andy Hughes before moving. Did he say positive things about the club and make you want to join?

"Yeah Hughesy used to be at Charlton. He's a brilliant character and he's a proper nice person. He's enthusiastic and he told me this club was a big club and they are going forward in the right direction, so that was positive."

You think Town's style of play will suit your game - pressing the opposition, attacking with high energy - that's your game, isn't it?

"Yeah, I think that's my game. I can bring energy to the team going forward and defending, so I think it should be good."

You're only 20-years-old. David Wagner the head coach here at Huddersfield Town has had a history of bringing players through at Borussia Dortmund when he was with their second team - is that something that made you want to join as well?

"Yeah, as a young player it's always exciting to know that a manager brings through youth players and has faith so I just have to prove that I can get in to the team and do my best."

And during your three loan spells - and at Charlton - you've played at left-back and right-back. Is left-back the main position for you?

"Left-back is my main position. I'm quite versatile as I can play on the right and sometimes in midfield but left-back is my favoured position."

And how much does that benefit you - being able to play on the right side as well?

"If the manager is having injury problems then being able to play there helps out the manager and gives me a chance to play if I'm not getting in at left-back so I suppose it's not a bad thing."

And we spoke about Kasey Palmer earlier on - did you know any of your other Huddersfield Town team-mates before you joined?

"I was with Joel Coleman at Oldham last season and I know Jack Payne just through a friend so I've played against him a couple of times but I don't really know anyone else."

Are you meeting them later on? Are you looking forward to it?

"I think so yeah. I'm looking forward to it - it should be good."

And David wanted two players in every position at the start of the season, so you've come in to compete for the left-back spot with Chris Lowe - are you looking forward to meeting him and trying to get in the starting line-up?

"Yeah, it's good. Competition is healthy. We'll push each other. It'll make me work as hard as I can and he will obviously work as hard as he can so it should be good."

Elias Kachunga and Rajiv Van La Parra said Town have got a good, young squad and it makes it easier for the squad mentality and team spirit. Is that something that interested you as well?

"Yeah, because if you come into a team with people similar ages I suppose you've got things in common it'll make it easier to get on with people, but I think there's good experience in the squad too so it should be a good balance."

For Huddersfield Town fans that haven't seen you play yet, what would you say is your best attribute?

"Going forward and attacking. I bring a lot going forward."

And Town have attracted large crowds so far. Is that something your looking forward to as well - playing in front of big crowds at the John Smith's Stadium?

"Yeah, that'll be exciting - playing in front of a massive crowd. That's what everyone dreams of so it'll be brilliant.
