Former Huddersfield Town skipper Chris Lucketti will take caretaker charge of Fleetwood Town for their League I game at Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

The 44-year-old, who had two spells at the John Smith’s Stadium club, was assistant to former Fleetwood manager Graham Alexander, who was sacked on Wednesday.

Lucketti played with and worked alongside Alexander at Preston North End before joining him at Fleetwood.

He cut his coaching teeth with the youth team at Bury, where he had a successful spell as a player.

The centre-back also had spells at Rochdale, Stockport County, Halifax Town and Sheffield United.

Town paid Bury £750,000 in June 1999 and he played 76 times before joining Preston for the same fee in August 2001.

Lucketti’s second spell started in July 2008, but he made only 16 appearances, finally leaving the club in May 2010.
