The Shankly Trophy has been and gone and a full ground watched a largely solid performance by Huddersfield Town.

However, they saw Liverpool go away with the spoils, courtesy of a bit of class from Firminho, and a penalty late on.

Based on the fans’ reactions I’ve heard – I was in Tenerife – Town still look like they need another striker, which by now has a perennial and familiar ring to it.

Nevertheless, Town’s pre-season continued with a match against Werder Bremen.

Danny Ward made his debut in goal, and by all accounts it was a good workout for the team – it looked like pretty much everyone got a game!

The season proper draws ever closer with just 10 days to go.

Tickets have gone on sale for Newcastle on August 13 and, next Friday, tickets for Aston Villa, on August 16, will be available.

St James' Park in Newcastle is the venue for Huddersfield Town's first away match of the 2016/17 Championship season

It’s been a while since Town played either side at their place, and the matches seem sure to be well supported by Huddersfield fans.

To this end, HTSA are running coaches to both matches, each priced at only £14 for members and £16 for non-members.

Departure times will be 11am for the trip to St James’ Park game and 4pm for the trip to Villa Park, from our usual place at the stadium.

Demand for tickets and travel are expected to be high – we’ve already got several bookings for both – so book early, ring our Travel Line on 07905 580784 or email Bob Pepper on repepper.rep@gmail.com, to reserve your seat.

Otherwise, you could call into the HTSA cabin on Saturday week prior to the Brentford game.

It would be remiss not to mention the “Terriers on Tour” initiative.

On paper, it sounds like a good idea with £20 to get priority over other season ticket holders, and in effect get your money back in discounted match day travel (I’ve seen that idea somewhere before...).

Someone at the club should have really thought through the implementation, as there are currently a number of member affiliate groups who enjoy priority when ordering away match tickets when demand is high or supply limited.

The Patrons and the Blue & White Foundation, for example.

The TOT initiative has a lot going for it if you are a new season ticket holder and want to join the party home and away.

I suspect there will be some takers, but most will take their chances – maybe discussion at the ATT supporters’ panel next time, ahead of roll-out, would help.

A lot of HTSA memberships expire during the month of August. Your support is vital towards the success and survival of our organisation – indeed it is funded by your subscriptions.

If your membership is due to renew soon, please get in touch or call and see us at the cabin. You can pay in a number of ways now – cash, cheque, electronic banking, PayPal, and even by annual standing order.

As well as the season starting soon, we hope to give you more information about a number of membership initiatives we are finalising for the 2016/17 season which, we hope, will give you more opportunities to get involved and interact with the HTSA.

HTSA are your voice as Town fans, and we are always available for advice and guidance. If you’d like to know more and get involved with us, email our chairman, Ian Lawrence, at chair@htsa-online.co.uk, and we’ll give you more details.

We are active on your behalf all the year round.

Until next week, UTT!
