Huddersfield Town fans are urging Chris Powell’s men to keep their foot firmly on the accelerator pedal when Nottingham Forest visit on Thursday.

Town go into the John Smith’s Stadium clash – which is live on Sky TV – in 13th position following the 4-1 home victory over Bolton Wanderers.

Two goals from Emyr Huws, another from Mustapha Carayol and a firm strike by Joel Lynch sent the Town contingent of just over 10,000 home happy after Liam Feeney had given Bolton an early lead.

Following the previous away victory at Charlton, supporters are warming to Powell’s new-look line-up but demanding the second-half level of performance from Saturday is maintained throughout games – starting against Forest.

Fan David, from Wyke, said: “Brilliant second-half performance.

“Powell must have no sentiment and play the same team and system for as long as he can.

“The only downside was giving a goal away to the long ball so soon after kick off, and it was a good job we scored just before half time.

“But we had some good performances throughout the team – just wish Miller could get the goal he deserves. Onwards and upwards. Up the Town.”

Terry, who is based at Fenay Bridge, added: “Great week, the defence looks more composed without the panic element – maybe it’s the Championship experience that comes to the fore!

“When we were four up, could have given Lolley and Dempsey some game time. Maybe we still need a striker though.”

Chris Green, from Dalton, reckoned it was a terrific fightback from Town.

“It was abundantly satisfying to pull off such a prodigious performance and result, particularly after conceding a shock opener with only three minutes on the clock,” he said.

“The game has surely got to go down as one of the most enthralling encounters to be witnessed at the John Smith’s in recent memory.

“Here’s hoping we get treated to another extravaganza under the floodlights against Nottingham Forest on Thursday night.”

Stu, who travels from Sleaford, urged caution, however.

“Reality check here,” he said.

“My first game this season. The first 40 minutes were awful. I would be worried if I supported Bolton.

“Much better performance second half, but still work to do. A good side would probably have battered us and put the game to bed before half time.”

Stand-in skipper Dean Whitehead was singled out for praise by Chief, of Shelley.

“A sloppy early goal conceded by some wayward defensive positioning led to a frustrating first half,” he explained.

“There were few chances with the exception of a well-worked corner in added time to level at the break.

“The second half performance was fantastic with Whitehead influential in midfield and the hard-working Bunn dominant.

“The scoreline could have been more emphatic with Town in control and showing positive refreshing endeavour which has sadly been lacking. Long it may continue well done CP and the boys!”

Glenn, from Leigh, added: “Well played Town but must be alert and mark up early doors.

“We need another three points on Thursday.

“Get down and watch you Town supporters – not stay at home to watch on tv.”
