Chris Powell hopes fans won’t have to wait too much longer for news of Huddersfield Town signings.

The John Smith’s Stadium boss says progress has been made in talks with potential targets without pens being put to paper.

He hopes that might change with many clubs returning for pre-season training in the next couple of weeks, when the transfer market traditionally shakes up.

“You can contact players and speak to their advisors, but what generally happens before pre-season is that they like to keep their options open,” said Powell, whose squad return for pre-season training at PPG Canalside on July 1.

“We have made some headway but, of course, you want to get them over the line with medicals done and everything agreed – and we are not at that stage yet.

“There has been a lot of dialogue but, like a lot of clubs at present, we are waiting for people to return.

“That’s when the movement tends to start and, hopefully, our fans will see some movement from us and we can get some players across the line.

“We definitely need to after rebuilding the squad through last season. We need to boost our numbers ready for the coming season.”

Town, of course, visit Hull City in their first Championship match on Saturday, August 8.
