FC HALIFAX Town are just three steps away from Wembley and manager Neil Aspin wants his side to make the most of the opportunity.

The Shaymen take on Chelmsford City in the last 16 tomorrow at home (3.00) with the tie pitching together the teams that lie sixth and fifth respectively in the Blue Square North and South leagues.

“Tomorrow is a big game for us and we are desperate to progress,” said Aspin.

“Any competition where a final at Wembley is at stake is always important and as we have gone on through the rounds, the competition has become more and more important.

“I think that some supporters feel the Trophy is a poor relation to the FA Cup.

“While you are still in the FA Cup that is the more important competition – and I think fans of clubs who have been in the Football League, like Halifax, feel that more intensely.

“But for us this is the big one now and for non-League clubs the Trophy is massive.

“So for ourselves and Chelmsford tomorrow is a very big game.”

While the Shaymen may be a place lower in their version of the Blue Square competition, both sides have 10 league wins and 33 points to their name – though the Essex outfit have played two games more.

And Aspin was expecting a tough test against the Clarets and said: “Chelmsford are a good team.

“We have had them watched and reports have suggested that we are going to have to be on our game if we are going to get the result we want.”
