FC Halifax Town have made two signings ahead of tomorrow’s revenge mission against Cambridge United at The Shay.

Boss Neil Aspin has snapped up Marlon Jackson from Bury and midfielder Craig Clay from York City subject to the necessary paperwork being completed.

Jackson made 25 appearances for Hereford last season, scoring seven times. while Clay joined the Minstermen from Chesterfield in the summer.

Both go straight into the squad for the clash with Cambridge, while club captain Danny Lowe is frustrated to be missing out.

The Shaymen host second-placed United, looking to avenge the televised 5-1 thrashing they received on the first day of the Skrill Conference season.

Lowe, however, remains on the sidelines following knee surgery, and will not be able to help his teammates try to make amends for the opening day disappointment, during which he saw red in the 11th minute.

“It’s frustrating not being able to play against anyone, because players want to play football,” said Lowe. “I’ve been injured for a while but my brace is finally off, and I can now start light jogging and get back on with my weight sessions.

“My leg brace was taken off on Tuesday and I’ve been starting to work on my knee.

“I’m pretty much going to be training everyday, running everyday and building my knee up. I’m hoping to be back by the end of January, but it may be by the first week in February.”

Lowe is hopeful his side can build on their impressive home form tomorrow, but he knows just how big a challenge Cambridge pose.

“Cambridge have been doing really well and we know that it is going to be a tough game.”
