FC HALIFAX Town staff will work Christmas Day if necessary to make sure the Boxing Day clash with Gainsborough Trinity goes ahead at The Shay.

The club hope to attract a bumper festive crowd to the Blue Square North clash after Saturday’s scheduled trip to Colwyn Bay was off.

Head groundsman Graham Osbourne feels there’s a good chance of getting Wednesday’s game on and explained: “Me and my team will do all we can to ensure the game goes ahead, including working on Christmas Day.”

Chairman David Bosomworth says Halifax are desperate to play some of their league games in hand.

“All sorts goes through your mind, switching the game – which is expensive at short notice – hiring special waterproof covers at £3,500, and so on,” he said.

Brighouse Town have their home derby against Liversedge on Boxing Day.
