FC Halifax Town will look to get back to winning ways as they travel to Harrogate Town for a West Riding County Cup quarter-final tie tonight (7.45).

The Shaymen, who were knocked out of the FA Trophy by West Yorkshire rivals Guiseley 1-0 on Saturday, are without former Harrogate trio Lee Gregory, Danny Lowe and Ryan Toulson through injury – as well as centre half Marc Roberts.

Shay manager Neil Aspin also used to play for and manage Harrogate and will return to Wetherby Road in search of a Halifax are the current holders of the trophy, however Aspin fielded a severely weakened side in the previous round at Harrogate Railway, so changes are likely.

A goal from former player Alex Johnson dumped Town out the FA Trophy against Guiseley, who inflicted a first home defeat of the season upon The Shaymen.

Aspin said: “Guiseley obviously can keep possession well and once they got the goal then they were in a comfortable position where they could play on the break and keep bodies in front of us.

“But we didn’t do enough to break them down and you have to give credit to Guiseley, they deserved to win the game.”

Aspin will be looking for an improved effort from his team at Wetherby Road and added: “We must be better. There seemed to be a lack of what is required to win games against Guiseley.

“Everything that we have done well to win games at against good teams was missing. There was no tempo, workrate was down and it was very poor.”
