PROMOTED FC Halifax Town were rewarded with three players being selected in the Blue Square North League’s team of the season.

The Shaymen’s trio were defender Liam Hogan, and strikers Dan Gardner and Lee Gregory, who were all named at the Blue Square League’s annual general meeting.

All played a big part in the Shaymen winning promotion to the Conference Premier via the play-offs – notching a memorable 1-0 win on the final over Brackley Town.

Meanwhile, the Shaymen’s boss Neil Aspin has challenged Sean Williams and Alex Johnson to prove themselves at the higher level after the pair both agreed new contracts with the club.

The duo produced some very strong performances following their respective moves to The Shay, with Williams joining from Colwyn Bay and Johnson from Clitheroe.

Both were offered new contracts and put pen to paper last week, but Aspin declared that they will have to maintain their high standards as Town embark on finding their feet in a higher division.

“We’re happy to have them both on board and they deserved their new contracts,” said Aspin.

“However, they’ve both got everything to prove.

“Neither of them has played at this level of football before and they’ve got to get accustomed to it quickly.

“They’re both at a young age and have a chance to challenge themselves at a higher level and hopefully they will develop into better footballers.”
