FIRED-UP Peter Jackson today named his 20-strong squad for the play-off final and will select from four frontline strikers at the Millennium Stadium.

Crowd hero Andy Booth leads Town's bid for promotion in Cardiff while the manager will pick from Pawel Abbott, John McAliskey and Iffy Onuora to play alongside the 100-goal favourite.

Defender Nathan Clarke is in the travelling party just four days after returning to full training following ankle surgery while midfield player Adnan Ahmed is also included after only one substitute appearance this term.

Injured goalkeeper Ian Gray, striker Jon Newby and defender Ian Hughes, who is being released, will link up with the official party on Monday and travel to the city-centre stadium on the team bus.

Jackson has coaches Terry Yorath and Martyn Booty in his backroom team along with physio Lee Martin and kit manager Andy Brook.

Jackson already knows his team will be backed by more than 21,000 fans in the Welsh capital (kick-off 3.00), and he can't wait to get cracking after today's official media day.

"Everyone is on a high, our match preparations are going really well and I've got the strongest possible squad available - so we can't wait to get started," said Jackson, whose squad will watch the First Division final between West Ham and Crystal Palace at the Stadium on Saturday.

"There is going to be a fantastic atmosphere, it's a great arena for the final and I know we've got the armoury to win the game, because we are capable of beating anyone in this division when we play to our proper standards.

"That really is all I'll be asking of the lads.

"If they come off the pitch at Cardiff and can look me in the eye and say they've given 100% then I'll have no complaints whatsoever.

"I know that if everyone performs to their best then we will win the game and the only thing we are focusing on is coming back home with that trophy and ready to play in the Second Division next season.

"We have already had one very memorable night courtesy of our play-off semi-final win against Lincoln and I really do want the players to have another.

"First and foremost, I want the lads to enjoy it - just like they have with every aspect of our build-up - and then I want them to do themselves justice in a football sense, because the match is being screened live by Sky TV and will be seen in many, many countries across the globe.

"For what they've done this season, the lads deserve that recognition for playing the game in the right manner, and I already know the passion, effort and commitment will be there."

Mansfield will have teenage keeper James Coates on the bench because regular back-up Jason White suffered a broken thumb in training.

Mansfield are staying at the Vale Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort which is where Manchester United stayed before their FA Cup final win.

It is also where all the play-off winners from last season stayed, so Town will be hoping to buck the trend by staying in Cardiff city centre.
