David Wagner has taken a 28-man squad to Austria for Huddersfield Town's pre-season training camp in Fugen.

The expected first team regulars include Nahki Wells, Kasey Palmer and Ivan Paurevic, who all missed the friendly with Liverpool due to injury or illness.

Danny Ward and Joe Murphy have also travelled.

And the manager has named two Academy graduates among the party as a reward for their recent progress.

Jordan Williams

A local lad from Meltham, Jordan is one of the Academy’s most exciting talents, and has represented England at u17 level.

He closed the 2015/16 season by emerging from the bench in May’s u21 Play-off Final to change the game in Town’s favour - despite not playing in his most favoured position and still being eligible for u16 football.

Nominally a defender, he came off the bench at Bramall Lane to set up the opener for Will Boyle and later won the ball for Jacob Hanson to slot home the winner.

The reward was a promotion to the first team set-up for the pre-season - Williams made his debut against Guiseley and earned more minutes against Oldham Athletic.

Despite his tender years, he didn’t look at all overawed and adapted to first team football with ease.

David Wagner is keen to play down any expectations of competitive involvement for the teenager once the season kicks off, but he clearly likes what he’s seen from the composed Williams, and supporters will want to keep a close eye on this Academy jewel.

Rekeil Pyke

Striker Pyke hails from Chapeltown and has been a Town player since under-12 level.

Although he was technically an under-18 player last term he played the entire season for Frankie Bunn’s under-21s, and with Flo Bojaj on loan at Kilmarnock seized his chance to impress the senior coaching staff.

With Nahki Wells out injured, Pyke was called on to play 60 minutes against Oldham and didn’t look at all out of place as the main frontman, matching his senior opponents for physicality and movement.

He was justly handed the chance for some minutes against Liverpool as a result, relishing his first experience of playing in front of a crowd of 21,000.

Pyke’s physical stature is matched by his pace, and he has proved a handful for defenders at every level of his career so far.

The teenager was one of six young prospects that Wagner took to Marbella in his first weeks in charge of Town last November, and he is the only one of that group on the plane to Fugen.
