Joe Lolley fired his first Football League goal on his full Huddersfield Town debut then admitted: “I don’t remember too much about it.”

The 21-year-old, signed for £350,000 from Kidderminster in January, also set up two goals for hat-trick hero Danny Ward in the season-ending 4-1 win at Watford.

Lolley, fit again after a shin problem, built on his five appearances from the bench with a bright performance at Vicarage Road as Town claimed a final position of 17th in the Championship.

Lolley added: “First and foremost it was great to end the season with a win and be able to celebrate in front if our fans (Town took 1,003).

“The manager told me to work hard without the ball and to try and express myself when I had it. It was a slightly different role to usual, and I had to think on my feet, but and I felt I did okay.

“I just remember working the ball onto my right foot, then getting piled on by the rest if the lads, and it was a brilliant feeling.”

Boss Mark Robins said: “Joe has had a shin problem and has had to work hard to sort that out and get himself up to speed.

“He’s come a long way in a short time, but he’s shown he can be a player, and we will work hard to keep him on that upward curve.

“I wanted to give him a chance, and I thought he was outstanding. He showed he’s not a one-trick pony and I believe he will get better and better.”
