PETER CLARKE insists Huddersfield Town can start turning draws into victories – with the help of fit-again trio Jermaine Beckford, James Vaughan and wingman Sean Scannell.

Vaughan has started the last four games after recovering from a nagging thigh injury and fellow loan striker Beckford the last two after a hamstring problem.

Meanwhile Scannell, who was also hit by hamstring trouble, showed glimpses of his pace and power against former club Crystal Palace last Saturday and Blackpool on Boxing Day. Town drew both games 1-1, stretching their sequence of games without a win to eight – and that’s the longest in the Championship.

That means Simon Grayson’s 15th-placed side are under real pressure to collect all three points, and snap Sheffield Wednesday’s recent good run, in tomorrow lunchtime’s home derby.

Fourth-bottom Wednesday won 1-0 at Bolton on Boxing Day after beating Charlton 2-0 at home last Saturday.

Now they’re seeking revenge for their 3-1 home defeat by Town in September, but skipper Clarke reckons a three-point haul is close.

“It was a decent point at Palace but a disappointing one against Blackpool, because while we didn’t play well, we were ahead going into injury time,” he said.

“Now we have another home game fast approaching, and it’s a great opportunity for us to get that elusive win.

“We’ve not been able to pair James and Jermaine that often of late, so to get the two of them back is encouraging for us and something we’re pleased about.

“And it’s great news that Jermaine’s loan has been extended, because we know we have both of them for the whole season.”

Beckford, ineligible at parent club Leicester on New Year’s Day, has bagged three goals in eight starts and one appearance from the bench.

And Norwich man Vaughan, who played alongside Beckford at Everton, has four goals from 12 starts and one outing as a substitute.

Scannell stole some of the limelight from Palace’s highly-rated widemen Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie, and also caused Blackpool some problems.

“Sean did some extra fitness work in the build-up to Christmas and he’s looking strong and powerful,” added Clarke.
