FORMER Huddersfield Town central defender Leigh Franks has opted not to take up Conference Premier club Alfreton Town’s offer of re-engagement.

Franks has decided to drop down a division to join Conference North club Harrogate Town, who have agreed an undisclosed fee with Alfreton for the services of the Scarborough-born player under the Bosman ruling as the former Town player is under 24 years of age.

Franks made 60 appearances – five from the bench – over two seasons for the Alfreton, scoring twice.

Conference Premier club Hereford United have signed former Kidderminster Harriers winger Danny Pilkington – the 23-year-old made 27 appearances for the Harriers last season, scoring twice.

The younger brother of Norwich City and former Town winger Anthony Pilkington, the Blackburn-born player started out in non-League football with Atherton Collieries, Kendal Town and Chorley before getting his chance in the League with Stockport County in 2008.

After being released by County following their relegation to the Conference, he joined York City in the summer of 2011.
