Nathan Clarke is preparing for a first play-off final appearance – possibly against his brother and fellow former Huddersfield Town player Tom.

Orient skipper Nathan led the East London club to Wembley thanks to a victory over Peterborough in the League I semi-finals.

Now they await the winners of the Thursday showdown between Tom’s Preston, managed by former Town boss Simon Grayson, and a Rotherham side including ex-Town man Joe Skarz.

The pair drew 1-1 in the first leg at Deepdale, where ex-Town loan striker Joe Garner scored a stunning goal for Preston.

Orient’s tie was also 1-1 after the first leg, with Peterborough beaten 2-1 at Brisbane Road thanks to goals by Dean Cox and Chris Dagnall.

Town were involved in six play-off campaigns during Nathan’s time at the club, but the academy product missed out on the three final appearances in that spell.

The centre-back was injured for the penalty shoot-out success against Mansfield at the Millennium Stadium which hoisted Town out of the basement division in 2004.

And he wasn’t selected for the League I showdowns against Peterborough at Old Trafford in 2011, which Town lost 3-0, and Sheffield United, beaten on penalties at Wembley a year later.

Having played 300 Town games, the 30-year-old has been a big hit at Orient, earning a new two-year contract in February and winning the club’s Player of the Year award.

Now he aims to top it all off with Wembley glory as Orient aim to return to the second tier for the first time in 32 years.

Preston chief Grayson, meanwhile, is attempting to clinch a fourth promotion from League I after his successes with Blackpool, Leeds and Town.

Versatile Tom Clarke, another Town academy product, made 111 appearances before moving to Preston last summer.

The Lancashire club are aiming to reclaim the Championship status they lost in 2011 while Rotherham are chasing consecutive promotions.
