Mark Robins says he is itching to get back in the dug-out.

The former Huddersfield Town boss is back in management with Scunthorpe United.

He takes charge of the League I side for the first time against Colchester United at Glanford Park on Saturday.

Robins left Town in the wake of their 4-0 opening-day home Championship defeat by AFC Bournemouth.

“It’s been a fair while now since I took charge of my last game,” said Robins.

“We didn’t do very well, so hopefully this one will go a little bit better.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the players can do when the real ball comes in.

“It’s been like a whirlwind, so there’s still a lot of things we need to do, but that will get them done over the coming weeks.”

Scunthorpe, promoted last season, are second-bottom, but were 3-0 winners at Gillingham last Saturday.

“The only importance is three points,” added Robins.

“The whole point of it is can we pick up the confidence we’re due from last week at Gillingham.

“The players showed plenty of confidence as the game went on. I want them to bring that into home games.

“The weight of expectation has got to be tempered by the fact that the run so far hasn’t been what we’d want.

“We know there will be hiccups along the way, that’s just the nature of it at this stage.

“But I want supporters to come, I want them to enjoy what they see and I want the players to enjoy playing for the supporters because that’s the whole point of it.

“Essentially we just want the players to understand the roles and responsibilities that they have and to go and be positive.”
