Former Huddersfield Town Wembley winner Kallum Higginbotham will be back in blue and white stripes next season.

But the kit concerned will be that of Kilmarnock after the frontman moved from their Scottish rivals Partick Thistle.

The 26-year-old Mancunian, who started Town’s successful League I play-off final clash with Sheffield United in 2012, rejected a new contract at the Glasgow club.

He has signed a two-year deal at Killie, his fourth Scottish club after spells at Falkirk, from whom Town signed him in January 2012, and Motherwell.

Higginbotham, who played for Town in a pre-season friendly at Kilmarnock in 2012, started his career at Rochdale.

He made just seven appearances for Town and had loans at Barnsley and Carlisle United in addition to Motherwell.

Higginbotham joined Partick in 2013 and scored 10 goals in two seasons for them.

He said Killie manager Gary Locke’s persistence persuaded him to sign.

“Gary has been relentless and I have taken this as a huge compliment,” he explained.

Locke said: “I am over the moon to have secured Kallum as he was one of my main targets and we have chased him all summer.

“He is a creative front player - and a goal threat - and it’s great to secure him for the club.
