Former Huddersfield Town striker Lee Novak is in advanced talks to join Shrewsbury Town.

The 27-year-old Geordie is out of contract at Birmingham City and available for a free.

Novak spent this season on loan to the Shrews’ League I rivals Chesterfield, scoring 15 goals.

He joined Birmingham three years ago after rejecting a new Town contract and has netted 12 times for the second-city club.

His move to St Andrew’s meant a reunion with Lee Clark, the manager who brought him to Town from Gateshead in a £150,000 deal in January 2009.

After being loaned back to the non-league club for the remainder of that season, he moved to the John Smith’ Stadium for the 2009-10 campaign.
