Former Huddersfield Town players Lukas Akins and Nathan Clarke have signed new deals at their clubs.

The 27-year-old Akins has been top scorer for Burton Albion in the last two seasons and has penned a two-year contract at the Brewers.

The newly-promoted club are looking forward to playing in the Championship and Akins will have Town in his sights when they make a first-ever visit to the Pirelli Stadium in December.

The Huddersfield-born star will have to wait for a return to the John Smith’s, however, as Burton don’t travel north until April 1.

Akins made six senior appearances for Town in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.

Nathan Clarke in action for Bradford City

Clarke, meanwhile, has signed a one-year deal with Bradford City in League One under new manager Stuart McCall.

Now 32, Clarke spent over a decade in senior football with Town before moving on to Leyton Orient in 2012, where he was also captain.

He signed for Bradford in 2015.
