Ex-Everton and Norwich City player Vaughan, whose career has been interrupted by a series of injuries, officially left Town this summer.

After four appearances for the club last season, he was loaned to Championship rivals Birmingham in November.

The deal was extended in January with a clause for a contract for 2016/17.

He made 16 appearances for Blues last season but has featured just once this time around, and leaves without scoring a goal for the club.

While at Town, the former England Under 21 international scored 33 times, including two hat tricks, in 95 games.

He joined Town on loan from Norwich in August 2012 and the move was made permanent in a £600,000 deal the close-season after.

Vaughan could make his Bury debut in Saturday’s League I game at Walsall.

He will link up with former Town teammate Neil Danns with the Shakers 14th in the table.
