Former Huddersfield Town striker Tom Denton is heading down Wembley Way.

The 25-year-old is part of the North Ferriby United side who will face Wrexham, in the FA Trophy final.

The Vanarama Conference North club were two-legged semi-final winners over Bath City.

Denton, who has scored 16 goals this season, hit a post during Saturday’s dramatic Humberside clash.

Ferriby had to come from behind to level the tie at 3-3 on aggregate.

After extra time failed to separate the sides, they won 4-2 on penalties.

Ferriby will face former Football League club Wrexham on March 29.

The club previously played at Wembley in the 1997 FA Vase final.

They signed Denton, also a prominent Huddersfield League cricketer, from Worksop Town last summer.

The 6ft 5in player caught the eye playing for Wakefield in the Northern Premier, joining Town in a three-year contract in 2008.

But he was unable to break into the first team, and had loan spells at Woking, Wakefield and Cheltenham before agreeing a contract settlement in 2010.

He has also played for Mossley and Alfreton Town.
