TOWN'S Welsh midfield star was back to his best in a gripping contest.
The 20-year-old sprayed some lovely passes as Town got back to winning ways.
"I think we owed it to ourselves to produce a performance after last week against Darlington, and to the supporters who travelled down," he said.
"I think last week was written in the stars with Steady leaving and the Manager of the Month Award being cursed, but we deserved to beat Torquay with everyone working really hard.
"It was tough all the way through, but when we did get the ball down we played some decent stuff and were much better, especially in the second half when people defended with their lives and we created some good chances going forward."
Fowler is playing despite a hernia injury which causes him a lot of discomfort after matches.
"It's just a matter of waiting for the right time to get it sorted but, with the way we are going at the moment, I've just got to keep playing," he said.
"It is getting more sore by the week, but I don't want to miss any games unless it's absolutely necessary, so I'll keep battling on."
And for the team, he added: "We have picked up a great three points and now we've got to look to kick on from here against Bristol Rovers.
"We have never been a one-man team like some people have been saying. We knew we would have to prove we can play without Steady, and I think we have just done it. Last week was a bad result, but we are up and running again and back on track."
