HAT TRICK hero Gary Taylor-Fletcher wants a Premiership club at home for Town in the Carling Cup second round.

The 24-year-old striker powered Town into Saturday's draw with his first goals for the club in last night's 4-2 first-round win at Chesterfield.

Taylor-Fletcher hopes his performance will earn him more first-team starts and Town the chance to pit their skills against top-flight opposition in the week beginning Monday, September 19.

"Any of the Premiership clubs at home in the second round would be fantastic," said Taylor-Fletcher, who has the match ball after a first career hat trick.

"It will be hard work whoever we get, but a big home draw would be great for us and the fans."

Taylor-Fletcher was having an ice bath and massage today in readiness for Saturday's big League I battle with Hartlepool at the Galpharm, while Town have big doubts over Martin McIntosh (cartilage) and Andy Holdsworth (ankle) as they prepare for three matches in seven days.

"They are all big games, but I don't think we'll ever be scratching around for players because of the quality squad we've got," said Fletch, whose goals followed Pawel Abbott's fifth in as many games.

"Everyone is pushing for places, especially with such an exciting week ahead (Town play Doncaster away on Monday and Scunthorpe at home a week tomorrow), and we all want to continue what I think has been an exceptional start to the season."

On his hat trick, he added: "The gaffer has given me confidence by showing faith in me and I really enjoyed myself.

"It was special to get my first goals for the club and a first hat trick - and hopefully there are many more to come.

"I certainly won't forget it in a hurry, though, because it's an absolutely magnificent feeling, and if I can back it up with my first goals in front of our own fans at the Galpharm then that will be even better."

Skipper Jon Worthington (calf) is expected to be fit for Saturday but Mark Hudson, who missed last night's tie against his old club because of a groin injury, is doubtful.

Andy Booth (hamstring) was stepping up his fitness work today while Adnan Ahmed (knee) rejoined the full squad session.

Jackson played Michael Collins and Tony Carss in midfield last night and sent on Tom Clarke for McIntosh.
