Harry Bunn is looking forward to the “exciting” chance of taking on Deportivo de La Coruna.

The 22-year-old wideman from Manchester City has enjoyed pre-season so far and hopes the Deportivo clash at the John Smith’s (7.45) can provide a real springboard into the final friendly at Barnsley on Saturday and the Championship campaign beyond.

“Deportivo are quite a big club, so it’s an exciting game to look forward to,” said Bunn, disappointed with previous defeats to Grimsby and Rochdale (where he played 67 minutes before being replaced by Jordy Hiwula).

“They are probably not quite as big as they used to be, but they still play in the top division in Spain – La Liga – so they will be a good test for us.

“I think we can expect it to be a different style of play we are up against – certainly not what we are used to – so it’s a challenge we are looking forward to.”

Bunn said the training camp in Marbella went well but the players have been disappointed with the results since they returned – a 3-1 reversal at Grimsby and 4-3 at Spotland.

“We had a good trip to Spain and did a lot of work, which maybe had an effect on us at Grimsby,” he said.

“Over at Rochdale we just never got started and the manager had to have a word at half time and, in the second half, we looked a totally different side.

“If we’d played another 10 minutes we would definitely have got something out of it, but we have to press on now and make the most of the games to come.”
