PROMISING Huddersfield Town midfielder Matt Crooks has signed a full professional contract with the club until the summer of 2014.

The 17-year-old central midfielder from Waterloo was an Academy scholar and is rewarded for his efforts with a first pro deal ahead of playing in tonight's FA Youth Cup second-round tie against Crewe at the Galpharm.

Manager Lee Clark has been pleased with Crooks' progress both in training and in matches and confirmed a loan move away could be the next step in his development.

"The real hard work starts now for Matt and it's up to him to get his head down and continue to improve in order to break into the first-team set-up."
