JAMES VAUGHAN rescued a point for Town - and came close to claiming all three.

The on-loan Norwich striker was denied by Adam Bogdan's fine stoppage-time save after beating him with a low drive from Alan Lee's neat lay-off in the 87th minute.

Town had taken a ninth-minute lead thanks to Zat Knight's own goal from Oliver Norwood's corner.

Lee Novak hit the bar in the 17th minute before Bolton took a grip in the second half.

They equalised through Mark Davies's shot in the 70th minute and Chris Eagles had a 74th-minute penalty saved by Alex Smithies before shooting home with 10 minutes remaining.

The Lancastrians looked good for victory - but Town came storming back to force the draw thanks to Vaughan's fourth goal for the club on his first start in nine games after a thigh injury.
