Chris Powell's side stunned the promotion-chasing Hornets with three second-half goals as Nahki Wells, James Vaughan and Joel Lynch struck to lift Town up to 15th.
Wells opened the scoring just after the break with a sharp finish from Jacob Butterfield's cross but Odion Ighalo levelled for the visitors when his shot squirmed past Alex Smithies at the near post.
But Town weren't to be denied as Wells turned provider and crossed for Vaughan to steer into the far corner before Lynch sealed the win with an exquisite overhead kick.
