Huddersfield Town academy goalkeeping coach Ian Bennett is being linked with Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.

Joining the City Ground management team would end a five-year association with the John Smith’s Stadium club.

Signed from Sheffield United, Bennett had four seasons as a Town player before moving into coaching 12 months ago.

The Worksop-based 43-year-old made 74 Town appearances, his 500th senior game coming against Oldham Athletic in February 2011.

After being on the books of QPR and Newcastle United, he made his senior debut with Peterborough United.

Bennett later played for Birmingham City and Leeds United as well as having loan spells at Sheffield United (before joining them permanently) and Coventry City.

He made 556 senior career appearances in total.

Nick Colgan is Town’s senior goalkeeping coach.

Town have announced a fourth pre-season friendly, away to League I Rochdale on Saturday, July 25 (3.00).

The Under 21s will make the short trip to Brighouse Town, of the Northern Premier League Division I North, on Friday, July 10 (7.30).
