Mark Lillis believes Steve Barltrop has a vital role to play as Huddersfield Town’s new Head of Academy Recruitment.

Appointed today to the post which was previously held by Bryan Glover, up until February, he will have the main task of bringing talented young players to the Town Academy.

His remit covers the age groups Under 8 to Under 18 inclusive and Lillis is delighted to have brought Barltrop on board permanently, as he’d worked for the past six years as a part-time scout in the Leeds area.

“Steve’s in-depth knowledge of junior football in the club’s local and regional area made him the best candidate for the job,” said Lillis, the Academy Manager.

“He’s done some sterling work for our Academy in his previous role and should be a real asset to the club.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Steve as he beds into the job and starts to put his imprint on our recruitment structure.”

Barltrop will also be responsible for the training and development of the Academy scouting personnel.
