ANTHONY GERRARD says it takes an all-round team effort to clinch a clean sheet and insists Huddersfield Town can keep more as the Championship campaign unfolds.
Third-placed Wolves are next on the agenda for sixth-placed Town in a plum home showdown a week on Saturday, after the international break.
With Joel Lynch back from a three-match suspension but hit by a shin injury which will keep him off duty with Wales, centre-back Gerrard partnered captain Peter Clarke at Birmingham.
Simon Grayson’s side clinched a 1-0 win, and rugged defender Gerrard said: "It’s great to have got the win and to have kept a clean sheet.
"That starts from the front, and against Birmingham Jermaine Beckford, James Vaughan and Danny Ward were outstanding.
"They ran them ragged in the first half and the support provided by the midfield three (Oliver Norwood, Adam Clayton and Keith Southern) was crucial.
"Myself and the rest of the back four defended when we needed to, and while Alex Smithies made a couple of great saves, we limited their chances.
"We will aim to do exactly the same against Wolves, and given their position, it’s building up to be a really big game."
Town, who have an Under 21 League match against Leeds at the John Smith’s Stadium today (1.00) head to Belfast tomorrow (7.45) to play a testimonial for Crusaders captain Colin Coates.
"This is a chance to mix a match with training and rest," added close-season signing Gerrard, whose former club Cardiff City top the Championship ahead of Leicester.
"It’s an opportunity to recharge the batteries and be ready to go again for another busy spell of matches."
After Wolves, Town go to basement side Peterborough on Tuesday, October 23 and Millwall the following Saturday, October 27.
Several of Grayson’s first-team squad could be involved at the stadium today.
