HUDDERSFIELD Town have been drawn away to League I Preston North End in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The match at Deepdale is due to take place in the week commencing August 13 - ahead of the Championship campaign on August 18 - but it can be played on Saturday August 11 or Sunday August 12 if both clubs agree.

Town boss Simon Grayson said: "It's going to be strange having a cup game before the league season starts - but we will be ready.

"We would have preferred to have been at home, but a tie at Preston is one to be looked forward to.

"We saw last season that Preston are a tough opponent who have a certain way of playing and they will have a new-look squad for the new season, but we will be approaching it no differently to any other game - we want to win.

"Ever since I arrived at the club we have needed to win games and this is no different. I always send a team out which is capable and set up to win and it will be the same at Deepdale."
