Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell, Cameron Jerome and Fraizer Campbell will be among those present at the official relaunch of the Huddersfield Schools Football Association.

Norwich City striker Jerome and Crystal Palace frontman Campbell both played for HSFA representative teams and have become executive directors of the organisation.

England star Campbell joins former Republic of Ireland and Tottenham Hotspur winger Tony Galvin and ex-Town and Grenada striker Delroy Facey among the ranks of HSFA players who have gone on to become internationals.

The Huddersfield association, affiliated to both the English and West Yorkshire bodies, was formed in 1928.

Before professional clubs started running centres of excellence and academies, schools representative sides were among the most prestigious on the junior football scene.

Tom Walton became association secretary in 1978, with representative sides at Under 11, 13 and 15 level.

Under 12 and 14 teams were introduced in the eighties.

Five teams continued to run until the late nineties, when managers and coaches became hard to find and the teams faded away.

All 42 schools within the association’s area have backed the relaunch, as have Town and Kirklees Active Leisure.

Trials have been held for the creation of Under 11, 12 and 13 squads.
