Huddersfield Town Under 21s are through to the Professional Development League II play-off final for the second season running.

Goals from skipper Regan Booty and defender Danny Kane sealed a 2-0 semi-final success over Millwall at PPG Canalside.

Now Frankie Bunn’s side, who topped the North section, will face Sheffield United, most probably at Bramall Lane, in the final (date to be confirmed).

Town suffered the disappointment of semi-final defeat to Hull City in the Under 21 Premier League Cup.

But they took a grip of this game thanks to two first-half goals, both from corners.

Midfielder Booty curled home a neat 31st-minute shot from a Jake Charles lay-off.

Then centre-back Kane headed home from Booty’s 40th-minute flag kick.

A young Town side, featuring two Under 16s in keeper Ryan Schofield and right-back Jordan Williams and five Under 18s, worked hard to keep the Lions at bay after the break.

Left-back Jack Senior cleared off the line before Schofield made a good save from Kris Twardek.

Bunn, whose side were beaten 3-2 by Swansea City in last season’s final at the Liberty Stadium, said: “This game was all about the result and we did well.

“The conditions were a little tricky with the wind and Millwall, who are quite a physical side, pressed high and made it hard for us to play out from the back.

“When they got the chance, they were able to play some football, and the two goals were well worked.”
