Chris Powell is enjoying having Huddersfield Town fans behind the goal at the ‘away’ end of the John Smith’s Stadium.

In a new move, home supporters can now watch the bulk of games from a section of the South Stand.

The area concerned has been named the Cowshed, after the well-known terrace at Town’s former Leeds Road ground.

It was busy for the Capital One Cup visit of Notts County, when only two sides of the stadium were in use.

And Powell said: “I thought it worked.

“It was good to have fans behind that goal.

“Of course in league games, we will have backing from all four sides.

“Now we have to give them something to cheer about.”

Meanwhile technical experts have been working to rectify the electrical problems at the stadium which at one stage, put the Notts County tie in doubt.

They have been carrying out a series of detailed tests.

A half-hour power cut caused problems in both the main and South Stand, but the game went ahead after the problem was fixed around 7.00pm.

There have also been power cuts at two Huddersfield Giants games at the stadium in the last 12 months.

Stadium managing director Gareth Davies said: “The technicians have been called in again to carry out a full series of tests to determine exactly what the problem is.

“They are fitting sensors to the equipment and have done a full run-through as on a match day to try to pinpoint any issues.”
