INJURED Huddersfield Town loan player Damien Johnson is making excellent progress.

Manager Lee Clark has kept the Plymouth loanee involved at the Galpharm since he underwent knee surgery following his injury against leaders Brighton on December 11.

The international midfielder, on a season-long loan, continues to work in the gym with Town and Clark confirmed: "He is doing very, very well.

"He is pushing on in his rehab and, when he went back to see the specialist, it went very well and they were very happy with him and how he is progressing."

Johnson was ruled out for the season, but Clark added: "The thing is with Damien that he will do everything and more that is asked of him by the surgeon and physio in terms of work.

"We have kept him with us, he travels with the squad, although he’s not going to Yeovil because it’s too far for him to be stuck on a bus when we can’t get any work into him.

"He will use those hours working in the gym and I know Damien’s target is to shave some time off the original rehab prediction, so we will see how he goes."

The 32-year-old Northern Ireland star watches almost all Town’s matches and Clark said: "He is working hard every day, he never misses, and he likes being around the club and around the squad and, likewise, we like having him here."
