LEE CLARK will be keeping a close eye on Hearts as well as Dunfermline as the Scottish season gets under way this weekend.

Town’s boss was impressed with the test his side were given by the promoted Pars, and the Hearts training ground used while North of the border.

“We had a great hotel base in Edinburgh and were able to take advantage of some excellent facilities at Hearts,” he said.

“I’d like to thank (manager) Jim Jefferies and all his staff, and we were able to get in some excellent sessions.”

Town were 2-1 winners at Dunfermline after beating Hamilton by the same scoreline at New Douglas Park, and Clark continued: “The games were just what I wanted.

“Both teams were up for it and forced us to move up a notch or two from where he we had been, which was the idea.”

While Town have a friendly at Blue Square Premier side Fleetwood tonight, Hearts kick off the SPL campaign when they head for defending champions Rangers tomorrow lunchtime.

Dunfermline must wait until Monday to make their bow against St Mirren on a new East End Park pitch used for the first time against Town.
