LEE CLARK is ready to renew acquaintance with Alex Rae when Town host Notts County tomorrow.

His former Sunderland teammate, pictured right, is now assistant to Meadow Lane manager Paul Ince, with whom he played at Wolves.

And he’s expecting the Magpies to produce a solid challenge.

“They’re a very tough team with a good work ethic, which you would expect given the two people in charge,” said the Galpharm chief.

“I played against Paul Ince on many occasions and as well as opposing Alex Rae, we were teammates for two eventful seasons.

“They were talented players and remain very committed individuals.”

County have suffered five defeats in their last six games, but Clark pointed out: “They have been edged out rather than comprehensively beaten.

“We will have to be at our best, make no mistake about it.”

County’s only loan deadline day activity was to extend the stay of Bristol Rovers defender Carl Regan.

The 30-year-old has played only twice so far because of ankle and thigh injuries.

TOWN'S 18-year-old midfielder Aidan Chippendale has joined York City on loan.

The Blue Square Premier League loan signing deadline past at 5pm tonight and Chippendale will join the Minstermen on a one month deal until April 30.

The Bootham Crescent club are still in the running for promotion to the Football League and Town boss League Clark said: “Aidan is going to a first team situation where winning really matters.”
