LEEDS United today started serious sifting through candidates to be their next manager, with speculation continuing to link Huddersfield Town’s Lee Clark.

While former Southampton, Wolves and Cardiff chief Dave Jones has emerged as the new favourite, Clark is still high in the betting.

Leeds confirmed they’ll start to make progress in the early part of this week.

Asked after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against MK Dons if he was still totally committed to the Galpharm job, Clark said: “I’m totally committed every time I wake up. I’m a very honest and genuine man, I work extremely hard at what I do and whoever employs me knows they are going to get 100% off me.

“They are going to get total commitment and total focus and that’s what I give to this club on every single day.”

Seven Premiership clubs – Wolves, Liverpool, Norwich, Arsenal, Blackburn, West Brom and QPR – were represented on Saturday, with the scouting list also including Scotland coach Craig Levein.
