Huddersfield Town players have a big incentive to avoid further yellow cards over the next three games.

Joel Lynch is already suspended for Saturday’s Championship trip to former club Brighton after his red card against Reading last Saturday.

And the centre-back is one of three of Mark Robins’ squad on three cautions so far this campaign, with five before the December 31 cut-off meaning a one-game ban.

Reaching 10 before the second Sunday in April brings a two-match suspension.

Adam Hammill and Ollie Norwood are the others with a trio of bookings, while Alex Smithies, sidelined skipper Peter Clarke, Jonathan Hogg, James Vaughan, Oscar Gobern, Tommy Smith and Anthony Gerrard are on two.

Adam Clayton has already served a one-match ban after reaching five yellows, while Vaughan was suspended for three games following his red card at Leicester.

Robins, now without right-back Jazz Richards after the end of his loan from Swansea, is hoping 12-goal top scorer Vaughan (ankle) and midfielder Hogg (hip) recover from the injuries which kept them out of the 1-0 home defeat by Reading in time to face Brighton.

The Amex Stadium showdown is followed by home games against in-form Derby (on Boxing Day) and Yeovil (Sunday, December 29).

Brighton, who are eighth to Town’s 12th, will be without winger Craig Conway, whose loan spell from Premier League Cardiff has ended.

Former Newcastle player Kazenga Lua Lua is a possible replacement.

Spanish manager Oscar Garcia will run the rule over Polish keeper Tomasz Kuszczak (strained stomach muscle), captain and centre-back Gordon Greer (calf) and winger Will Buckley (ankle) in the build-up to the game.

Nottinghamshire referee James Adcock will be in charge.

Richards, 22, whose loan had reached it’s 93-day limit, made nine Town appearances, but didn’t feature in any of the last four games.
