A sense of anticipation surrounds Huddersfield Town's every move at the moment.

From the changes in the club's coaching staff to the first signing of the summer, there is plenty to discuss for those associated with the Town just now.

Things should start falling into place over the coming weeks but with no confirmations as yet, Town fans will turn their attentions to one of the club's other most pressing concerns this summer.

The futures of Jonathan Stead and Martin Paterson remain largely unresolved but one thing has become clear, their futures do not lie at the John Smith's Stadium. At least not in an ideal world.

Stead's toils in front of goal last term for both Town and Bradford City, having scored just two all season, will make him the harder of the two to jettison during the transfer window.

Paterson may prove a slightly more saleable asset, given the six goals he registered for Town prior to a move down a division with Bristol City, but both players' nosedives in stock since signing on two-year deals last summer could play a part.

The futures of the out-of-favour duo should not be allowed to dictate the way in which Town work the transfer market in the next few months, nor the speed with which they do it although a new striker addition could hinge on one or both of their exits.

Robins should be able to feel safe in the fact that his fringe strike duo will attract interest the longer the transfer window goes on, with lesser clubs especially prone to having their star strikers snatched away and subsequently hunting for replacements.

But, equally, the last thing the club want, you would assume, is for Paterson and Stead to remain put when Town look to get a settled first-team squad in place before the new season kicks off.

With James Vaughan battling his way back to full fitness and Nahki Wells surely keen to push on after his impressive debut season exploits, Town have a wealth of competition up front which simply does not hold the room to accommodate two players seemingly surplus to requirements.

Robins could face some tough decisions this summer, particularly regarding incoming personnel, with youngsters to weigh into the mix.

But arguably one of his biggest tasks is removing two members of the wage bill who, it would appear, have no long-term credentials at the club, nor the form to force their way back into the manager's reckoning.
