Mark Robins reflected on Huddersfield Town’s 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth and admitted: “We have to be better away from home.”

His side head into Saturday’s big Championship derby at Leeds aiming to avoid a fourth straight defeat and with top scorer James Vaughan ruled out.

The 12-goal striker missed last night’s clash in rain-soaked Dorset, which featured a first Town goal for Calum Woods, because of his nagging knee problem.

Vaughan has had an injection, and must give it time to take effect before he resumes training.

Woods’ goal came in between a Lewis Grabban penalty and a winner by Tokelo Rantie, and Robins, whose side remain 13th, said: “I’m disappointed.

“We said a while ago that we need to start picking up points away from home, and I thought we were worth one.

“We were up against a good footballing side who were on top of their game, and I thought we suffered from a combination of some naivety and some bad luck.

“The pitch was difficult, but it was the same for both sides, and we struggled to get a foothold from a footballing point of view.

“We created some chances, but we were bare up top too much, with Nahki Wells left to fight on his own.

“I thought the penalty (Tommy Smith was the man penalised with Marc Pugh going down) was harsh on us and our goal was a good one.

“But there is obviously a lot of disappointment in our dressing room, and we have to pick ourselves up and be ready for a big game on Saturday.”

Leeds are a place and two points above Town after arresting a run of five straight defeats with a 1-1 home draw against Ipswich.
